NDI (Network Device Interface) sends high-quality video over your local network — no HDMI cable from iPad to laptop, no USB capture dongle. For VJs, that means your iPad can be the visual source while OBS, Resolume, or a venue processor receives the feed wirelessly.

VJ Stage outputs your main program over NDI so live visuals reach streams, LED processors, and projection rigs on the same Wi‑Fi or Ethernet LAN as your iPad.

NDI into OBS and live streams

On your streaming Mac or PC, add an NDI Source in OBS and select VJ Stage from the network list. Your iPad program appears as a camera input — composite it full-screen behind a DJ cam, or picture-in-picture for hybrid sets.

Latency depends on network quality. Use a dedicated router or wired Ethernet on the receiving machine for festival-grade reliability; home Wi‑Fi is fine for rehearsal and casual streams.

Hybrid setups with Resolume and venue switchers

Many installs run Resolume Arena on a main machine for mapping and DMX-linked layers, while a secondary source feeds extra content. VJ Stage over NDI slots in as a live input — an iPad operator triggering clips that the main Resolume rig composites into the wall.

Venue switchers and media servers that accept NDI treat VJ Stage like any other live source. Pair with AirPlay when you need a quick single-display route without network configuration.

When to choose NDI vs AirPlay

NDI fits multi-device production: streaming, recording, and hybrid Resolume workflows where one program bus feeds several destinations. AirPlay is faster to set up for a single projector or TV when you just need live visuals on one screen.
